Is your Roomba acting like it has lost its way and is not being able to navigate rooms correctly? This is what we likely call a Roomba S9 navigation problem. These robots are known for their smart features, though there is no denying that even the smartest technology can sometimes malfunction.

Irregular cleaning paths are among the first symptoms of a Roomba navigation problem, where the robot misses areas or cleans the same one over and over, or gets stuck in narrow sections. All this was due to corrupt maps or sensor issues brought on by environmental changes.

First, delete the old map on the app and let the robot create a new one. Ensure that the space is clean and clutter-free while doing this. Any misplaced items, cables, or reflective surfaces may cause the robot to get confused, leading to errors in the new map.

Next, clean the sensors. Dust and debris can go a long way toward hampering the sensors and navigation as a whole. Wipe the camera lens with a microfiber cloth, and brush any dirt away from around the wheels and bumpers. Lastly, update the firmware so that your little robot assistant runs whichever software version is latest.

Lighting could be another variable. Many of these devices depend on visual markers, and if visibility is poor, the device could be unable to "see" where it is in the environment. Always run mapping in good and even lighting conditions.

If your Roomba seems to have lost its sense of direction and is not navigating rooms correctly, regular troubleshooting and maintenance can get it back into tip-top shape. Regardless of whether you just do a quick clean or a complete reset, resolving the Roomba S9 navigation problem at the onset can prevent larger problems in the future.
